VA HISA Grant Tub to Shower Conversion for Military Veterans

I'm Zach, and I help military veterans in Charlotte and surrounding areas use their VA HISA grant for a tub to shower conversion. My price starts at $7,500, not $20,000.

Tub to shower conversions with your VA HISA grant

The VA (Veterans Affairs) HISA grant gives military veterans up to $6,800 to make their home safer. For a lot of vets that starts in the bathroom. Climbing over a tub wall gets hard after an injury, and it's easy to fall. A shower with grab bars, a seat and a handheld shower head fixes that.

Here's the problem. Veterans tell me the big remodeling companies quote them around $20,000 for the same job, and the grant gives up to $6,800. That gap leaves a lot of disabled veterans stuck, or paying way more than they should.

I'm happy to help. I'm a local owner, not a big chain. I'll come look at your bathroom, tell you what you need, and put one clear price in writing. If it costs more than the grant, I'll tell you up front and we'll talk through your options.

Why I want to help veterans

Before I started Carolina Bath Solutions, I spent five years in the home remodeling business working for some of the biggest companies in the country. It was a good experience, but I learned fast that I'm not a corporate guy. Too often I watched people who really needed help, because of their age, a mobility problem or a safety issue, get pushed aside or priced out. A big company with big overhead can just walk away. I couldn't do that.

So I started my own company. Veterans have already given a lot. They shouldn't get priced out of a safe shower. I keep my costs low, I keep things simple, and I'll sit down with you, look at your bathroom and give you an honest price.

How the VA HISA grant process works for military veterans

  1. Talk to your VA provider. The VA needs to know why you need the change. Your VA prosthetics office can walk you through it.
  2. Book a free visit with me. I'll measure your bathroom and we'll talk about what you need.
  3. Get a written estimate. You get one clear price and a list of the work to send in with your application.
  4. Send it to the VA. They review your request and decide on the grant.
  5. I do the install. Most jobs take 1 to 2 days and come with a written warranty on the work.

Veterans Affairs makes every decision about who qualifies and what it pays, and the rules can change. Start with the VA's housing grants page or call your VA prosthetics office.
